Missing a friend

Once again – it’s a while since the last update, and much has happened! So much, we will be be updating you with two entries on the blog.
Once again life has been a round of meetings, assemblies and meeting up with team – all of which have been going very well.
Like many people we were keeping an eye on the news – especially with the fires in Australia. Again, like so many people we had friends over there. Then, what you hope will never happen did – the mother of Kay’s friend rang to say she and her son’s had been killed in the fires in Marysville.
Liz and Kay had been firm friends from the age of 13, and had remained in touch after she moved to Australia. She even sang at her wedding! With all the reports about Liz and her boys on the national news, very little was said of her strong Faith in God, and the faith of her boys. Rod, her husband, a strong but gentle Christian man, survived but has burns that we are told are healing well.
One part of her memorial service summed Liz up very well: An infectious giggle, an amazing sense of humour, a strong desire to serve God and others…..and no fashion sense at all! All of her friends have many happy memories of Liz, and have stories of how she had stood with us in times of trouble, or laughed with us in the moments of joy – some times hysterically at something that wasn’t really that funny – as only friends can do!
She may have been a long way from us physically for the last few years, but we all still miss her very much.
