Christmas News From The Morgan-Gurrs

Well – that was an ‘interesting’ year……!

It’s been an interesting year for the Morgan-gurrs in more than one way! With the whole family put together have had more than our fair share of NHS care: James, Steve’s youngest son, has been in hospital three times, once for an op on his arm. His wife Naomi has been having various follow up tests, Kay has had two major ops, and just this last month Kay’s mum has also been in hospital!

We also had the exciting news that after years of running away from God,  James and Naomi finally stopped running! It’s lovely to have them attending and worshipping at the same church as us – such an encouragement!

Steve’s oldest son graduated from Falmouth university this year,  and dad and grandma had the privilege of seeing him graduate, with Kay attending the garden party with them afterwards (Only two tickets per family unfortunately!)

We continue to be very proud of both of the boys, and their other halves!

Kay is still doing really well after her op in the summer, and is gradually building up more and more strength.

Kay’s convalescence certainly helped in looking at the future of Children Worldwide, with many plans afoot, culminating in a relaunch of everything Children Worldwide in February – including a new look website with all sorts of things on it.

Part of the relaunch has included new logos for all the work we do. In the past it has been difficult to know that these different areas of work are actually part of the same organisation, so we have opted to have a family of logos that are obviously linked – a corporate feel to the Children Worldwide family.  (The logos are in the full colour version of the news letter – link below)

Looking Forward To 2010……

There is much to do in preparing things for the relaunch of Children Worldwide – publicity packs, making sure everyone has the new logo, making sure fresh and relevant information is on the website, and making sure people know what children Worldwide is about.

And that’s only the half of it! The new vision covers much more – our overseas work, the way the resources represented by our members can get ‘out there’, how we can work with together with even more organisations are just some of the other areas.

Spring Harvest:

This year brings some change – we will be at Minehead instead of Skegness! For weeks one and two, Kay will be the special needs consultant, and on week three, we will be running Whizz Kids. It’s been our turn to do the one week kids work slot for quite some time – so we offered to take our turn this year! This brings it’s own issues, as many of our regular team are unable to change sites due to holidays not fitting with the dates Whizz Kids will be running.

Among the regular bookings we have, we will be preparing material for our programme at Spring Harvest, and making sure everything for the new look Children Worldwide is ready for our national conference in February.

In between all the dates given on our diary page, we will also be writing, planning, preparing assemblies and training material as well as visiting various members of Children Worldwide. There are always last minute bookings too, including assemblies still being added to the diary!

Please pray for safety, and for times of beneficial rest. Also for wisdom in preparation, meetings, and conversations.

Pray also for wisdom as we lead Children Worldwide through the various changes, and as we help and mentor children’s workers, plus do consultancy for various organisations.

We praise God for bringing us safely through an interesting year, and look forward with confidence into 2010
