Bullying research

So….I have a connection with church, and I’m being bullied – where do I go?

It’s a sad fact of life that children are bullied. Some at school, some at home, and sadly even in the children and youth work in our churches.

So where do children go if they are bullied?

There are some fantastic organisations out there to help – Kidscape and bullyingUK to name but two! But let’s think a little more about this in the context of faith.

As Christians I believe we can offer and add so much more to the help already given – especially when it comes to self worth and support, but are there any Christian organisations out there specifically and intentionally working with children and young people who are bullied? I know there are people working incidentally with these children – as advocates and school pastors etc, but could we be doing more?

I’m currently looking at the possibility of setting something up that could help families, churches and organisations in this area – but want to know where the greatest need is first – where is the best place to start and build out from?

  1. Do you know of any faith based organisations intentionally working in this area? (As part of their mission/core aims)
  2. Are you currently supporting children or young people who are being bullied?
  3. Do you feel there is a need for faith based input into this area?
  4. I’m asked for many resources in this area – could you take the following and put it in the order you see as needed most urgently (for example: b,a,d,e,c)

a. Age appropriate books/comics – to help and encourage Kids
b. Video clips (Nooma style) to help and encourage kids
c. Materials for families/parents/carers
d. Training for children
e. Training for children/youth leaders
f. Materials to use in Children and youth programmes (Lesson guides, discussion starters, games etc)

5. Is there anything else you would like to see available, or any other help you think would be useful?
